Interested in the history behind Coyote Slim's
music? Check out the information below!
Son House was one of the teachers
of Robert Johnson and also taught
Muddy Waters. Along with Charley
Patton, House's music defines early
Delta Blues.
Johnny Shines, renowned for his
association with Robert Johnson,
had his own important style and is
one of Coyote Slim's main
influences.
Boubacar Traore, nicknamed Kar
Kar, is one of Coyote Slim's
favorite musicians. Though his
music is sung primarily in the
Bamana language of West Africa, it
speaks to everyone.
One of Slim's favorite
blueswomen, Jessie Mae Hemphill,
hailed from the Hill Country of
Mississippi. Like much of the Hill
Country blues, her music is similar
to the trance-inducing music of the
Sahel in West Africa.
